About Me
My name is Shehr Banoo but everyone calls me Shehra. I’m a qualified Integrative Therapist based in London.
My path to becoming a psychotherapist began with my own personal struggles. After a challenging divorce, I found myself living back with my parents and working in a job that didn’t fulfill me. I knew something had to change, so I decided to return to education. Despite my fear of academic settings due to dyslexia, my fascination with human behavior—why we do what we do—led me to enroll in a psychotherapy course.
Little did I know that training to be a therapist would also mean embarking on my own journey of self-discovery. I had to confront my own fears, challenges, and childhood trauma in order to understand myself and, ultimately, to better support my clients. Initially, I found it challenging to let someone else help me process my thoughts and feelings. But thanks to the unconditional positive regard I received from my therapist, who recognised how difficult it was for me to open up, I found a safe space that allowed me to be my authentic self, work through childhood traumas, and explore my identity as a child of immigrants navigating two cultures.
Through the in-depth therapy and teaching I received, I refined qualities like trust, curiosity, empathy, warmth, and a nonjudgmental attitude. These traits—alongside my lived experiences—form the foundation of my work as a therapist. I believe that with the right support and guidance, we can overcome difficulties and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. Trust is one of my core values and is essential for creating a space where you can be vulnerable without fear of judgment.
I have worked with a wide range of clients, helping them navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues, abuse, addictions, mood disorders, trauma, and identity issues.
I am an accredited member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a member of the British Association of Counselling Practitioners (BACP). I look forward to supporting you on your own journey toward healing and self-discovery.
